Artist Statement

As a young Canadian artist and illustrator, my work draws from personal experience to explore desire, vulnerability, heartbreak, and what it means to be a young woman undergoing a second coming-of-age in her twenties. With a primary focus on illustration, my practice reflects the world around me while merging inner emotional life with the shared uncertainties of my generation.

I work primarily with traditional materials such as watercolour and gouache, often combining drawing, painting, collage, ceramics, poetry, and digital elements to fully articulate an idea. My visual language is influenced by early 2000s media aimed at young girls, as well as fashion illustration. As my style has evolved, my current self has entered into conversation with my younger self, resulting in work that embraces a sense of naivete and emotional openness.

My creative process is rooted in reflection. I draw from memories, relationships, and emotional responses as a way of understanding both myself and my place within the world. As an emerging artist, I view my practice as expansive and evolving. My work reflects a contemporary coming-of-age experience defined by self-discovery, desire, and a persistent longing for connection.
